3500 System Integration
The 3500/62 is designed as a monitor module within the modular 3500 rack architecture. A complete 3500 monitoring system uses the rack, power supply, transient data interface, monitor modules and required I/O assemblies. Relay modules, communication gateways, Keyphasor modules and display hardware can be incorporated according to system requirements.
The monitor can communicate with other modules in the rack, while its front-panel TX/RX indicator provides a direct operational indication of rack communication activity.
Rack Allocation
Monitor module: one full-height front slot.
I/O module: one full-height rear slot.
External termination configurations require the corresponding termination block and cable assembly.
OK
Indicates proper monitor operation.
TX / RX
Indicates communication with other 3500 rack modules.
BYPASS
Indicates that the process variable is in Bypass Mode.
Firmware & Software Environment
When adding a 3500/62 to an existing 3500 system, the rack environment must meet the applicable firmware and configuration-software requirements for the monitor and selected I/O arrangement. Internal Barrier I/O has additional version requirements.
I/O Matching Matters
The replacement process should match the required signal type, termination arrangement and agency-approval configuration. The 3500/62 ordering structure distinguishes I/O module type from agency approval option.

Q1 — Can 3500/62 replace another 3500/62 directly?
A direct replacement depends on the existing I/O configuration, termination arrangement, agency approval option and rack environment. The 3500/62 ordering structure separates the monitor from its I/O and approval configuration, so the replacement should be matched to the installed architecture rather than selected by model number alone.
Q2 — Which 3500/62 I/O version should be selected for a 4–20 mA transmitter?
The 3500/62 supports 4–20 mA configurations through isolated I/O or through the internal-barrier arrangement. Selection depends on whether isolation, internal intrinsic-safety barriers, termination style and applicable hazardous-area requirements are part of the installation.
Q3 — Is calibration required after installing a 3500/62?
The specified signal-conditioning characteristics state that no calibration is required. Channel full-scale range is configured in the field through 3500 Configuration Software, so configuration and signal-range matching remain important when commissioning or replacing a monitor.
Q4 — How should 3500/62 alarm behavior be considered when replacing a channel monitor?
The 3500/62 provides Alert and Danger setpoints, with both under and over alarm capability. Alert delay can be configured from 1 to 60 seconds in 1-second steps, while Danger delay can be configured from 1 to 60 seconds in 0.5-second steps. Existing process protection settings should therefore be checked when commissioning a replacement.
Q5 — Does 3500/62 fit applications where hazardous-area signal interfaces are required?
The 3500/62 is offered with I/O configurations that include an internal intrinsic-safety barrier option, and the product family has hazardous-area approval configurations. The exact approval depends on the selected I/O and agency option, installation conditions and applicable certification requirements.
