Two serial networks. One ControlLogix slot.

The PROSOFT MVI56E-MCMXT allows a ControlLogix processor to exchange data with Modbus RTU/ASCII devices. It operates as an input/output module on the backplane, so Modbus data is presented to the processor as I/O data. Its two serial application ports are independently configurable as Master or Slave and may serve the same or separate Modbus networks.

How it is used

1. Install the module in a compatible ControlLogix / Logix-XT chassis slot.
2. Configure the module with the Add-On Instruction or ProSoft Configuration Builder workflow.
3. Assign each serial port as a Modbus Master or Slave and define commands, addressing and data mapping.
4. Commission the serial networks and use the Ethernet diagnostics interface to monitor communication status.

Typical applications

Integration of serial instruments, process measurement devices, PLCs, PACs and other Modbus RTU/ASCII equipment with a ControlLogix control system—especially where an XT-rated, conformal-coated module is preferred for harsh or caustic conditions.
