PRODUCT NOTE 01
Termination
Interface |
TRICONEX 9666X is a Field External Termination (FET) connector designed for the Tricon CX digital-output termination architecture. The specified configuration is commoned, 24 VDC and 32-point. The 9666X is associated with the digital-output termination arrangement used with the Model 8131X I/O Expansion Chassis and is compatible with the 3626X digital-output module. For replacement work, the complete termination arrangement should be matched rather than selecting a connector only by physical appearance. |
01
24 VDC
Defined for the 24 VDC commoned termination arrangement.
02
32 POINT
A 32-point FET connector configuration for the DO termination path.
03
COMMONED
The termination arrangement is specified as commoned.
04
DO FET
Dedicated field termination interface for the digital-output architecture.

FIELD APPLICATION
Designed Around
the Existing DO Path The 9666X is relevant where a Tricon CX installation uses the defined 24 VDC commoned DO FET termination arrangement. It is particularly relevant to component replacement where the existing termination architecture is intended to remain unchanged. |

01
Is TRICONEX 9666X the appropriate FET connector when a 3626X DO module is already installed?
Yes, the 9666X is specified as the compatible FET connector for the 3626X within the applicable Tricon CX arrangement. The existing cabinet configuration should still be checked to confirm that the field termination is the 24 VDC commoned, 32-point configuration.
02
What makes TRICONEX 9666X different from other Tricon CX FET connectors?
The important differences are the I/O function, field voltage, point arrangement and termination configuration. The 9666X is a commoned 24 VDC, 32-point DO FET connector. Other family members serve different I/O functions and should not be treated as automatic substitutes.
03
Why should the 32-point configuration of TRICONEX 9666X be checked before a replacement purchase?
Because point capacity is part of the termination architecture. A connector from the same Tricon CX family can have a different point configuration or serve another I/O function. Matching the 32-point arrangement helps ensure that the replacement corresponds to the installed termination path.
04
Can TRICONEX 9666X be selected only by comparing connector appearance with an existing unit?
No. Physical similarity is not sufficient for a replacement decision. The DO function, 24 VDC field arrangement, commoned configuration, point count and associated 3626X/8131X architecture should be considered together.
05
When is replacing TRICONEX 9666X preferable to changing the entire DO termination arrangement?
When the existing Tricon CX installation already uses the 9666X-compatible termination architecture and the objective is component-level maintenance, a matching FET replacement can maintain the established DO termination arrangement. This avoids treating a connector replacement as a broader I/O redesign.
