01 / APPLICATION FIELD
Turning field pulses
into usable process data. The X-CI 24 51 is intended for the HIMax programmable electronic system where pulse signals need to be counted or converted into process values such as frequency and rotational speed. When rotation-direction recognition is required, two channels are used for the corresponding measurement arrangement. |

The proximity-switch and Type 3 configurations are selected through the applicable sensor-selection arrangement. These two input configurations are not intended to be operated simultaneously.
Important system distinction:
X-CI 24 51 is a NonSIL counter module. Its parameters and status must not be used to perform safety functions. |

For proximity-switch operation, open-circuit and short-circuit thresholds are preset according to the NAMUR arrangement. Open-circuit and short-circuit monitoring is available only when the proximity-switch configuration is selected.

The I/O module processor system controls and monitors the I/O level. Module data and states are made available to the processor modules through the redundant system bus. System-bus redundancy depends on the corresponding redundant system-bus modules being installed and configured appropriately.
