The F3 DIO 24/16 01 is a safety-related digital I/O module designed for the modular HIMatrix F60 system. It provides 24 digital input channels and 16 digital output channels, with the I/O circuits galvanically separated from the I/O bus. Front-panel LEDs provide channel status indication for inputs and outputs.

01 / CORE FUNCTION
Designed for F60 I/O Architecture
The module is installed in the base plate of the HIMatrix F60 and occupies an I/O position in slots 3 through 8. Slot 1 is assigned to the power supply module and slot 2 to the processor module. The module supports safety-related digital inputs and outputs. Input and output signal status is displayed by front LEDs, allowing channel states and diagnostic conditions to be monitored during operation. SAFETY ARCHITECTURE
The DIO 24/16 01 is certified for safety-related applications up to SIL 3 according to IEC 61508, IEC 61511 and IEC 62061, and Cat. 4 / PL e according to EN ISO 13849-1. The HIMatrix F60 documentation also identifies the module for CENELEC SIL 4 applications under the applicable railway standards. |

Digital outputs DO 1 through DO 8 can be operated as pulsed outputs for line control. When connected with safety-related digital inputs, this arrangement can support detection of short circuits and open circuits, including applications such as emergency-stop circuits. Pulsed outputs used for line monitoring are not to be treated as safety-related outputs. |

|
The module is suited to safety-related digital signal exchange within a HIMatrix F60 architecture where a comparatively high number of digital field signals must be monitored and controlled from a modular safety controller. Typical HIMatrix applications include process-industry safety systems, fire and gas systems, burner-related solutions, turbine monitoring, wellhead control, logistics systems, machine safety, conveyors, cranes, presses, robot cells and other industrial safety functions. |
If a digital input fault is detected, the user program receives a low level and the module activates the ERR LED. The corresponding error code can be evaluated by the user program for an additional fault reaction.
If an output channel is overloaded, it is switched off for approximately 10 seconds until the overload condition is no longer present. If the total module output load exceeds 8 A, all outputs are switched off for approximately 10 seconds and a new test is performed. A detected output fault places the affected output in the safe de-energized state; a module fault switches off all digital outputs.

Yes. The module combines 24 digital inputs and 16 digital outputs in one F60 I/O module. A detected module fault switches off all digital outputs and activates the error indication.
