01 / PRODUCT ROLE
Built for the PACSystems RX7i Control Architecture
A 700 MHz RX7i controller built for Hot Standby redundancy. It combines a Pentium III processor, ECC-protected operation, embedded Ethernet and synchronized control through dedicated redundancy links.
Replacement work should preserve the complete controller identity: CPU revision, firmware, rack and power arrangement, memory retention, communication settings, I/O map and application project. A physically similar CPU from another GE platform is not interchangeable.
MATCH BEFORE ORDERING
Send the full catalog number, revision, current rack configuration and destination. We will help you check the requested identity before quotation.
Why the full identity matters: CPU families differ in backplane, memory organization, programming support, communication behavior and I/O compatibility. Match the installed architecture before considering a performance step.

Questions That Protect an Exact-Match Order
01
IC698CRE020: Can IC698CRE020 replace IC698CPE020 without redesign?
Not as a simple like-for-like exchange. The CRE020 is intended for a Hot Standby architecture and must be matched to the rack, firmware, redundancy configuration and IC698RMX016 link arrangement.
02
IC698CRE020: Does IC698CRE020 require an IC698RMX016?
Yes for Hot Standby operation. Each redundant unit requires a CRE CPU and an RMX module configured as the redundancy link.
03
IC698CRE020: Must both IC698CRE020 CPUs be the same model?
Normal redundant operation requires matching CPU model types. A mixed pair is only a temporary migration condition and is not the steady-state design.
04
IC698CRE020: What should be backed up before replacing IC698CRE020?
Preserve the controller project, hardware configuration, Ethernet settings, redundancy transfer definitions and current firmware identity before the outage.
05
IC698CRE020: What should be checked after installing IC698CRE020?
Confirm CPU health, active/standby roles, synchronization, RMX link status, Ethernet communication, I/O ownership and transfer behavior before returning the process to service.
