7200 Series 5 mm Proximity Probe

The Bently Nevada 21500-00-32-05-02 is a 5 mm proximity probe configuration within the 7200 Series proximity transducer family. It is intended for non-contact measurement of shaft position and vibration on rotating machinery when paired with the appropriate 7200 Series Proximitor and monitoring equipment.

01 / PRODUCT ROLE
Shaft Motion Sensing

The 21500 family uses eddy-current proximity sensing to detect changes in the gap between the probe tip and a conductive machine target. In a properly calibrated 7200 Series system, the probe signal can support monitoring of radial vibration, axial position and other shaft-relative measurements.

ENGINEERING CHARACTER
Compact sensing at the shaft surface

The probe is designed to operate as part of a complete proximity measurement chain rather than as a standalone transmitter. The sensing element, extension arrangement and Proximitor electronics must be treated as a matched system for accurate measurement.

03 / FAMILY MAP
7200 Series Relationship

The 21500 and 21504 families belong to the 7200 Series proximity-probe range. The principal family distinction is the probe sensing diameter, while ordering variations define mechanical length, cable length and connector configuration.

04 / FIELD APPLICATION
Where the 21500-00-32-05-02 Fits

A proximity probe is valuable when machine condition must be evaluated from the relative movement between a shaft and a stationary mounting point. The 7200 Series architecture is suited to machinery-monitoring applications where shaft vibration or position must be converted into an electrical signal for subsequent monitoring.

Rotating Machinery
Shaft-relative vibration and movement monitoring.
Position Monitoring
Applications requiring non-contact displacement measurement.
Bearing Areas
Probe installation around suitable shaft and bearing arrangements.
Machinery Protection

For replacement work, matching the probe's mechanical configuration and connector arrangement is essential. Substituting only by appearance can create installation or calibration problems.

05 / PURCHASE QUESTIONS
Five Practical Questions Before Replacement
Can 21500-00-32-05-02 replace another 7200 probe with the same connector?

Not automatically. The connector alone does not determine mechanical compatibility. The probe diameter, unthreaded length, case-length configuration, total cable length and mounting arrangement must all match the application.

Why does 21500-00-32-05-02 need to be treated as part of a matched system?

The 7200 proximity system uses the probe together with Proximitor electronics and monitoring equipment. The electrical characteristics and calibration depend on the complete measurement chain rather than the probe in isolation.

What makes 21500-00-32-05-02 different from 21500-00-20-05-02?

Both belong to the 5 mm 21500 family, but the ordering code identifies different case-length configurations. The exact mechanical envelope should therefore be checked before selecting a replacement.

Is 21500-00-32-05-02 suitable when the existing installation has limited cable routing space?

The 05 configuration identifies a specific total-length option, so it can be useful where the required cable length is shorter than other 7200 configurations. The existing routing arrangement should still be checked before ordering.

What should I verify before ordering 21500-00-32-05-02 for an operating machine?

Confirm the installed probe diameter, case-length requirement, connector style, cable length, Proximitor compatibility and machine mounting arrangement. Supplying the existing part number and machine/system information helps avoid an unsuitable substitution.

Replacement tip:
When requesting a quotation, send the complete part number rather than only “21500” or “7200 Series.”
