Main Technical Highlights of the Allen-Bradley 1771-IBD
Introduction to the Product
The Allen-Bradley 1771-IBD is a discrete input module belonging to the 1771 product family. This single-slot wide module provides 16 discrete input channels ranging from 10-30VDC. It can be mounted in any 1771 chassis, except for the 1771-A1, 1771-A2, and 1771-A4.
Discrete input modules like the 1771-IBD are typically used to connect field signaling devices such as switches, sensors, and auxiliary contacts representing process status. It is particularly suitable for ON/OFF, 1 or 0, or binary-operated devices.
The 1771-IBD features 18 LED status indicators providing information about the module status and the signal status of each input channel. It also includes a field terminal block, with a compatible replacement part number of 1771-WH. The field terminal block allows for modular wiring, as it can be removed from the module for signal termination. Furthermore, they facilitate simplified maintenance, as they can be removed and installed onto compatible modules without disconnecting the wires.
The minimum input current of the 1771-IBD is 4.5mA at 10VDC and 15mA at 30VDC; the minimum shutdown current is 2.0mA at 5VDC. Its input signal delay is 1ms for low-to-high signal transition and 1ms or 6ms for high-to-low signal transition. Its rated power dissipation is 7.3 watts (maximum) and 1.0 watt (minimum); its heat dissipation is 24.7 BTU/hour (maximum) and 3.4 BTU/hour (minimum).
