The F312 is a DIN-rail mounted fieldbus device coupler designed to connect field devices to a segment trunk. Its twelve numbered spur connections allow individual devices to be connected or removed without interrupting normal segment communication.

F312 FAQ
Can F312 be selected when a fieldbus segment needs more spur connections?
Yes. F312 provides twelve numbered spur connections, making it the 12-way member of the F300 Megablock range. Multiple Megablocks can also be wired together when a larger segment arrangement is required.
Is F312 suitable for both FOUNDATION Fieldbus H1 and Profibus PA installations?
The F300 Megablock range is designed for FOUNDATION Fieldbus H1 and Profibus PA networks. F312 is the twelve-way version within this range.
Does F312 include the segment terminator needed at the Megablock trunk?
Yes. Each F300 Megablock, including F312, is supplied with an F97 terminator for installation at the trunk terminals. A second terminator is used at the other end of the fieldbus segment.                                                                                         
What should be checked when replacing an existing F312 in a fieldbus junction arrangement?
Check that the installation requires the 12-way F300 configuration, screw-terminal connections, compatible fieldbus topology and the required trunk/spur arrangement. Terminal wiring and hazardous-area requirements should also match the existing installation.
Why can F312 be useful when individual field devices need to be disconnected during commissioning?
The F300 design uses pluggable field connections, allowing individual devices to be connected and disconnected during commissioning. Once wiring is completed, the connector retaining screws secure the individual connections.
