Can 1746-WS be used when an existing SLC 500 installation needs a weighing module replacement?
Yes. The HI 1746-WS was designed for use with Allen-Bradley SLC 5/02, 5/03, 5/04 and 5/05 controllers and can operate in either local or remote mode. The actual replacement suitability should still be checked against the existing chassis, controller arrangement, load-cell configuration and operating mode.

Is 1746-WS suitable for a system using multiple load cells on one vessel?
The module supports up to eight 350-ohm full Wheatstone Bridge strain-gauge load sensors or cells on one vessel. With standard excitation, the published configuration supports up to four 360-ohm load sensors, while up to eight sensors can be supported with external power.

What should be checked before replacing 1746-WS in an established weighing application?
Check the SLC controller model, local or remote operating mode, load-cell resistance and quantity, excitation arrangement, set-point requirements, calibration method and existing configuration. These items determine whether the replacement matches the existing weighing architecture.

Can 1746-WS preserve process control functions that depend on weight set-points?
The module provides two TTL-level set-point outputs. Each output has its own set-point, preact and deadband parameters and can respond to Net, Gross, Rate of Change, Excitation Monitor, Force On or Force Off modes.

Does 1746-WS offer a practical calibration path for an existing SLC 500 weighing system?
Yes. The module supports C2 electronic calibration with compatible C2 load sensors, and calibration can also be performed through the SLC environment or configuration software. The front-panel calibration function provides an additional path for compatible C2 systems.
