01 When is MVME147-013 preferable to MVME147-012 for an existing VME system?
Both are 25 MHz configurations, but MVME147-013 provides 16 MB parity DRAM while MVME147-012 provides 8 MB. If the application requires the larger onboard memory configuration without moving to the 32 MHz group, the -013 is the relevant configuration.
02 Does MVME147-013 retain the peripheral architecture needed for a legacy VME controller?
Yes. The MVME147 architecture includes four EIA-232-D serial ports, Centronics-compatible parallel I/O, SCSI with DMA, Ethernet, VMEbus controller functions, timers, battery-backed clock/calendar and CMOS RAM.
03 What makes MVME147-013 different from MVME147-022 when both have parity DRAM?
The -013 is a 25 MHz / 16 MB configuration, while the -022 is a 32 MHz / 8 MB configuration. They represent different processor-clock and memory-capacity combinations within the same family.
04 If the MVME147-013 is used with existing transition hardware, what should be matched?
The VME backplane connections, P1/P2 arrangement, transition-module configuration, required serial and peripheral connections, memory requirement and system-controller role should all correspond to the existing installation.
05 Is the 16 MB value on MVME147-013 the same memory architecture used across every MVME147?
No. The MVME147 family was produced in 4 MB, 8 MB, 16 MB and 32 MB configurations, and the memory maps differ according to installed DRAM capacity. The exact replacement should therefore match the original configuration rather than only the family name.
