High-Current Measurement With Closed-Loop Feedback
The Honeywell CSNK500M-600 is a housed closed-loop current sensor designed for measurement of AC, DC and impulse currents. Its null-balance architecture maintains the magnetic flux in the sensing core near zero and produces a secondary current proportional to the primary current. The arrangement provides galvanic separation between the high-current primary path and the secondary measurement circuit.

ENGINEERED FOR
Dynamic Current Feedback
Through-hole primary connection allows the measured conductor to pass directly through the sensor aperture. The -600 configuration uses the specified RSD-46607-001 connector arrangement.

02 / TECHNICAL MATRIX
Electrical & Mechanical Characteristics
CSNK500M-600 combines a high-current through-hole primary path with a low-current closed-loop secondary circuit. The design is suited to applications where fast current feedback, isolation and bidirectional measurement are required.

CSN Family Architecture
The CSN family uses closed-loop current measurement with magnetic compensation. Different members address different mechanical configurations and primary-current arrangements.

|
Signal & Output Concept
The sensor's secondary current is the balancing current generated by the closed-loop system. With the specified turns ratio, the output current is a scaled image of the primary current. An external measuring resistor can convert the secondary current into a voltage suitable for an electronic control or measurement circuit.
|
Installation Perspective
The primary conductor passes through the sensor aperture. The housing provides a panel-mounted form factor, while the electrical output is isolated from the primary current path. The CSNK500M-600 variant uses the connector configuration assigned to the -600 designation.

Q1. Can CSNK500M-600 be used when the measured current changes direction?
Yes. The CSNK500M-600 is a bidirectional closed-loop sensor and is designed to measure positive and negative primary current, including AC, DC and impulse current. This makes it suitable for power conversion and drive systems where current direction can reverse.
Q2. Why does CSNK500M-600 use a dual-polarity supply instead of a single supply?
The specified operating supply is ±15.0 to ±18.0 VDC. The dual-polarity supply supports the closed-loop electronics and bidirectional output behavior required by the sensor architecture. The supply should therefore be designed around the specified bipolar operating range.
Q3. What should be checked when replacing a CSNK500M-600 in an existing panel?
The replacement should match the CSNK500M-600 configuration, primary through-hole arrangement, bipolar supply requirement, output circuit and connector configuration. In particular, the -600 version uses the RSD-46607-001 connector arrangement shown for this variant, so connector compatibility should be confirmed before installation.
|
Q4. Does CSNK500M-600 require a particular measuring resistance for voltage output?
The sensor provides a current output, and the secondary current can be converted to a voltage using an external measuring resistor. The specified measuring resistance range is 0 to 75 Ω. The selected resistance should be compatible with the receiving circuit and sensor output requirements.
Q5. Is CSNK500M-600 suitable for high-speed current feedback rather than only slow monitoring?
Yes. The specified response time is less than 1 μs, allowing the CSNK500M-600 to track rapid current changes. This characteristic supports applications such as variable-speed drives, overcurrent protection, welding power supplies, UPS equipment and current-feedback control systems where transient behavior matters.
ORDER CHECK
When requesting CSNK500M-600, specify the exact part number and quantity and confirm the destination and required delivery date.
