What should be checked before replacing an IC695RMX128 in an existing RX3i system?
The replacement should be checked against the existing RX3i rack location, PCI backplane, CPU firmware, programming software version and RMX128 hardware/firmware revision. For a redundancy application, the system should also use the required CRU320 CPU redundancy architecture.

Does IC695RMX128 require a specific RX3i rack position for replacement?
Yes. The RMX128 must be installed in the main RX3i rack. It requires an RX3i PCI backplane, which is not available on IC694CHSxxx expansion bases. This makes rack location an important replacement check rather than a simple part-number substitution.

Why does the IC695RMX128 hardware revision matter when matching firmware?
For RMX128 hardware revisions -Cx and later, firmware 2.00 or later is required. Firmware 2.00 or later must not be installed on earlier -Ax or -Bx hardware because the combination is not compatible. Conversely, firmware earlier than 2.00 is not compatible with -Cx and later hardware.

Can IC695RMX128 connect directly to any reflective memory equipment?
The RMX128 is network-compatible with reflective memory devices in the Abaco Systems 5565 family. It uses multimode fiber and LC-type connectors. Compatibility should therefore be checked against the existing network hardware rather than assuming that every reflective-memory device can be connected.
