Communication scope: The CPU374 PLUS supports SRTP communication, Ethernet Global Data, SRTP client channels and Modbus/TCP client/server operation. It also provides basic PLC reference and fault-table monitoring through its Ethernet web server.
COMMUNICATION
Up to 16 SRTP client channels are supported, with up to 36 SRTP/TCP connections in total, consisting of up to 20 SRTP server connections and 16 client channels.
DATA HANDLING
The CPU provides fixed %I, %Q, %G, %M, %T and %S reference areas together with configurable %R, %AI and %AQ word memory.
PROGRAM STORAGE
The CPU supports PLC Program Download Device and EZ Program Store Device functions, providing additional options for transferring and storing PLC programs.

Q1. Can IC693CPU374-KZ replace another CPU374 revision without checking the Ethernet firmware?
The CPU374 family contains multiple hardware and firmware revisions, so the revision should be checked before a replacement is finalized. The KZ revision is associated with CPU firmware 12.71 and Ethernet firmware 6.20 in the revision listing. Older CPU374 hardware does not automatically gain newer PLUS functions simply because the catalog number family is the same. For a replacement, confirm the existing revision and the Ethernet functions used by the application.
Q2. Is IC693CPU374-KZ appropriate when the existing control system depends on Modbus/TCP?
The CPU374 PLUS Ethernet interface supports Modbus/TCP client and server operation. However, the required programming environment matters: the PLUS documentation specifies a suitable Machine Edition Logic Developer PLC version for Modbus TCP functions. When replacing an older CPU374, verify the software version and the actual Modbus/TCP configuration before ordering.
Q3. What should be checked before using IC693CPU374-KZ with a large Series 90-30 rack?
The CPU374 supports up to eight baseplates in a system: one CPU baseplate plus up to seven expansion and/or remote baseplates. The CPU itself also requires a high-capacity power supply. The total rack configuration should therefore be checked for both baseplate count and available +5 VDC capacity rather than evaluating the CPU in isolation.
Q4. Can IC693CPU374-KZ communicate with other controllers through Ethernet Global Data?
Yes. CPU374 PLUS supports Ethernet Global Data and EGD command functions. The Ethernet interface also supports SRTP communication and SRTP client channels. For an existing EGD installation, the exchange configuration, producer and consumer relationships, network addressing and the functions used by the application should be checked when moving to another CPU revision.
Q5. Does IC693CPU374-KZ need a separate Ethernet communication module?
No separate Ethernet interface is required for the CPU's built-in Ethernet functions. IC693CPU374-KZ has two auto-sensing 10/100Base-T/TX RJ-45 ports connected through an integrated Ethernet switch and uses one IP address. The CPU can therefore provide its supported Ethernet services directly from the embedded interface.
