The IC670ALG330 belongs to the GE Fanuc Field Control I/O family and provides eight analog current-source outputs. During operation, engineering-unit output data is received through the Bus Interface Unit, scaled according to the configured channel parameters, and converted into output current. Each channel can have its own scaling and default output behavior. The module also provides under-range, over-range, and open-wire reporting, making the output stage useful where analog control loops must remain visible to the control system. Loss of a required analog output can affect the commanded position or operating value of connected field equipment. For a critical control loop, an unavailable output channel can therefore become a direct maintenance priority.

Can the IC670ALG330 generate a 4–20 mA signal?
The module is specified as a 0–20 mA current-source output module. Its channels can be individually configured with scaling parameters, allowing the engineering-unit relationship to be adjusted for the application.

What should be checked when an IC670ALG330 channel reports an open-wire condition?
Check the current-loop wiring, field connections, return path and connected load. The module provides open-wire reporting, so an abnormal channel should be investigated at both the module terminals and the external loop.

Does the IC670ALG330 require a separate power source for its analog outputs?
Yes. The current-source output module requires a separate source of power for the outputs. This should be considered when checking a channel that has no expected current output.

Which Bus Interface Unit revision is required for the IC670ALG330?
The module requires a Bus Interface Unit revision 2.0 or later. Group data transfer is available with revision 1.1 or later.

What happens to the analog output if communication with the BIU is interrupted?
The configured default output behavior determines whether the channel goes to zero or holds its last value when a module error occurs. With Hold Last State selected and user power available, the output can retain its previous value under specified reset, timeout, backplane-power and watchdog conditions.
