IC670ALG240 brings sixteen industrial current-loop signals into one Field Control module.
The module accepts inputs from two-wire and three-wire current transmitters. All channels are grouped single-ended inputs using a common return and a common external loop-power arrangement.

DIAGNOSTIC BITS

IC670ALG240 can provide 88 bits / 11 bytes of diagnostic data to the BIU. Diagnostic use is configurable, allowing the station to use all, part or none of the available diagnostic status.

FLASH
CALIBRATION STORAGE
|
The module can be field-recalibrated and can also be returned to factory calibration. Calibration values are stored in nonvolatile FLASH memory.

Shielded Twisted Pair
Instrumentation-grade shielded twisted-pair wiring is recommended for better noise immunity. The shield should be terminated at a local panel ground near the module.

Common Return
All current inputs reference a common return for the negative side of the loop supply. This grouped architecture should be checked carefully when replacing an isolated-input module.

Can I connect my existing 4–20 mA transmitters to IC670ALG240?

IC670ALG240 accepts current signals from two-wire and three-wire transmitters and supports commonly used 4–20 mA scaling arrangements. Before replacement, confirm that the transmitter returns and loop supply suit the module's grouped single-ended architecture because all channels use a common return. |

ISOLATION CHECK
Can IC670ALG240 replace an analog module with individually isolated channels?
|
Not automatically. IC670ALG240 uses sixteen grouped single-ended inputs with a common return. The analog circuitry is isolated from logic and ground, but the channels are not individually isolated from one another. Existing field wiring and grounding should therefore be checked before substituting it for another analog input architecture. |

NOISY SIGNALS
What should I check if IC670ALG240 values fluctuate in an electrically noisy panel?
|
Start with the configured 50/60 Hz line setting and 10/20 ms averaging selection. Also check field wiring quality. Shielded twisted-pair wiring, stable loop power, correct shield grounding and suitable signal separation remain important even though IC670ALG240 includes hardware, line and averaging filters. |

LOOP TROUBLESHOOTING
How can the module help when a 4–20 mA measurement suddenly drops?
|
When the selected low-span current is above 2 mA, open-wire detection can help distinguish a broken loop from a valid low reading. High alarm, low alarm, under-range and over-range status can provide additional context when checking the transmitter, cabling or loop power. |

SHUTDOWN REPLACEMENT
What should I capture from the existing IC670ALG240 before replacing it during a shutdown?
|
Confirm the channel assignments, active/inactive status, scaling ranges, alarm thresholds, 50/60 Hz setting and 10/20 ms filtering. Also verify the loop-power arrangement, two-wire or three-wire transmitter connections and existing calibration condition. Preserving these settings reduces recommissioning work after the replacement is installed. |
