Interface |
The Foxboro FCM100E is designed to bridge high-speed Ethernet communication with the Module Fieldbus used by Foxboro 200 Series or 100 Series FBMs. It communicates with the ZCP270 through a 100 Mbps network and provides either a 2 Mbps connection for 200 Series FBMs or a 268 Kbps connection for 100 Series FBMs.

04 / MOUNTING
Baseplate Integration
FCM100E mounts on a Modular Baseplate. The baseplate can be installed on a DIN rail or on a 19-inch rack using the appropriate mounting arrangement. Horizontal and vertical 2-, 4- and 8-position baseplates are supported.
Redundant pair positioning:
odd slot + adjacent even slot — positions 1/2, 3/4, 5/6 or 7/8. |
REDUNDANCY LOGIC
In redundant operation, both modules are active. When a module failure is detected, the remaining module provides backup coverage, and role reversal occurs automatically.
200 Series Path
200 Series DIN rail mounted FBMs, FDSI modules, ISCM and supported migration equipment including Siemens APACS+ and Westinghouse WPDF systems.
100 Series Path
100 Series FBMs, Fieldbus Cluster I/O through the FBP10, Foxboro Hydrostatic Interface Units, Mass Flowmeters and Panel Display Stations.
Migration Path
The 268 Kbps path also supports selected Honeywell TDC 2000/TDC 3000, Bailey Net90/Infi90 and Fisher PROVOX migration equipment.

A practical replacement checkpoint
When replacing an FCM100E, confirm the exact Fieldbus architecture, baseplate position, Ethernet fiber arrangement and whether the application uses the 2 Mbps or 268 Kbps Fieldbus. This is particularly important when the installation contains mixed generations of FBMs or migration equipment.

Q1 — Can FCM100E replace a single module in a redundant pair?
Yes. The FCM100E supports single-module use as well as redundant installation. In a redundant arrangement, one module can be replaced while the other continues providing communication coverage. The replacement must match the actual baseplate, network and Fieldbus arrangement.
Q2 — Is FCM100E suitable when the existing FBM group contains 100 Series and 200 Series modules?
The FCM100E supports either the 2 Mbps Module Fieldbus for 200 Series FBMs or the 268 Kbps Fieldbus for 100 Series FBMs. The actual installation path must therefore be checked against the Fieldbus architecture and associated baseplate/interface arrangement before replacement.
Q3 — What should be checked before ordering FCM100E P0972ZA for a long-distance Ethernet installation?
Check the fiber arrangement, because FCM100E uses multimode 62.5/125 µm fiber with an LC connector. The specified cable range is 3 m up to 2 km, with lengths above 50 m supplied by the user.
Q4 — Does FCM100E provide external time synchronization and SOE/TDR functions?
No. FCM100E does not support external time synchronization and SOE/TDR. Those optional functions require the FCM100Et variant, so this distinction should be checked when the replacement is part of a time-sensitive event-recording architecture.
Q5 — How should FCM100E redundancy be matched to the existing baseplate?
A redundant pair uses an odd slot and the adjacent even slot on the Modular Baseplate: 1/2, 3/4, 5/6 or 7/8. Before ordering, verify the installed baseplate position and whether the existing arrangement uses a 2-, 4- or 8-position baseplate.
