Yes, when the existing architecture is built around the FBM246 function and its associated redundant baseplate, adapter and termination arrangement. Before ordering, the complete field-side configuration should be checked because the module is part of a larger redundant I/O path rather than an isolated field component.

Why does the FBM246 replacement require attention to the termination assembly?
The field wiring reaches the redundant FBM pair through the termination arrangement and redundant adapter. Different termination assemblies support non-intrinsically safe or intrinsically safe installations, so matching the module alone does not guarantee the correct field-side configuration.

Does FBM246 support field devices operating at different FoxCom baud rates?
Yes. Each channel can independently use either 600 or 4800 baud according to the configuration of the connected field device. This allows different channels on the same FBM246 arrangement to operate at their respective configured rates.

What should be checked when an FBM246 loop uses an external power supply?
A common external supply used by multiple loops requires a Cable Balun Module to maintain digital communication line balance. The balun arrangement is not required for loops powered by the FBM246 internal isolated supply. The field loop resistance and available compliance voltage also need to remain within the specified operating limits.

Can one FBM246 module be replaced without disconnecting the field termination wiring?
The redundant architecture is designed so either module can be removed and replaced without removing the field-device termination cabling, power or communication cabling from the healthy module. Plant operating conditions should still be considered before carrying out the replacement.
