Compact FBM214b accepts eight individually isolated 4-20 mA inputs and supports HART digital communication on the same loops. A dedicated FSK modem per channel, isolated loop supplies and high-resolution conversion support smart-transmitter integration in Compact 200 Series installations.

When two or more externally powered loops share a common supply, use the appropriate cable-balun arrangement to maintain HART communication balance. Internally powered loops do not require the balun.

Engineering FAQ

Q1	Can standard 4-20 mA and HART devices be mixed? Yes. The eight channels can accept a mix of standard 4-20 mA and HART devices because the analog signals are electrically compatible.
Q2	Does each channel have its own HART modem? Yes. A dedicated FSK modem supports bidirectional HART communication on each input channel.
Q3	Is HART burst mode supported? No. The module passes universal, common-practice and device-specific commands, but does not support burst communication mode.
Q4	When is a cable balun required? Use a cable balun when two or more externally powered loops share a common supply. Internally powered loops do not require it.
Q5	Can FBM214b replace FBM216b directly? Do not assume direct interchangeability. Confirm redundancy requirements, baseplate, termination, system release, loop powering and configured database before selecting a module.
