Series selection note: PR6424 is the family position for a ±2.0 mm static range and 4 V/mm sensitivity. When replacing an existing sensor, the physical configuration, measuring range, converter pairing, target material and installation geometry should be checked together rather than selecting by sensor family alone.
06 / BUYER QUESTIONS
PR6424-010-140 FAQ
Q1. Is PR6424-010-140 the right configuration when the existing installation uses a 10 m armored LEMO sensor?
Yes, the ordering combination PR6424/010-140 corresponds to an M18 × 1.5 sensor with armored cable, 40 mm Cx length, no adaptor plug, 10 m total cable length and LEMO cable end. These physical details should be matched against the installed sensor before placing a replacement order.
Q2. Can PR6424-010-140 be connected to a different PR642x converter already installed in the cabinet?
PR6424 sensors are used with the CON 011, CON 021 and CON 041 converter families, as well as specified integrated transmitter arrangements. For accurate measurement, the sensor and converter form an adjusted measuring chain, so the existing converter type and its adjustment must be checked rather than assuming that every PR642x converter can be exchanged without verification.
Q3. What should be checked before using PR6424-010-140 as a replacement for another PR6424?
Check the sleeve thread, armored-cable requirement, Cx length, adaptor-plug arrangement, total cable length, cable termination, target material and converter pairing. The mounting geometry also matters: PR6424 uses a 16 mm sensor head, requires appropriate free space around the head and has a maximum recommended axial tilting angle below 2°.
Q4. Why would a buyer select PR6424-010-140 instead of moving to PR6423 or PR6425?
PR6424 occupies the ±2.0 mm static-range position in the PR 642x family and provides 4 V/mm nominal sensitivity with a 16 mm sensor head. PR6423 has a smaller ±1.0 mm static range, while PR6425 also provides a ±2.0 mm range but is intended for higher-temperature applications. The choice should therefore follow the required measuring range, temperature conditions, shaft geometry and existing measuring chain.
Q5. What installation conditions should be confirmed before ordering PR6424-010-140 for a critical rotating machine?
Confirm that the mounting holder is stiff and vibration-free, the sensor head has the required 45° free space, the target provides a suitable measuring track, and the cable can be routed without mechanical stress. For PR6424, the maximum tangential offset is 0.5 mm and the maximum axial tilting angle is below 2°. The armored cable requires a minimum bending radius of 35 mm.
