Precision Non-Contact Shaft Measurement
Emerson PR6422-013-041 is a 5 mm eddy current sensor intended for critical turbomachinery measurement. The PR6422 design provides non-contact measurement of shaft displacement and can be applied to position, eccentricity and speed measurements. Its small sensor format is suited to applications where the available shaft diameter and installation space require a compact sensing element.

Application & Replacement Considerations
PR6422 sensors are intended for critical turbomachinery such as steam turbines, gas turbines, hydro turbines, compressors, pumps and fans. The non-contact measurement principle allows shaft movement to be monitored without physical contact between the sensing tip and rotating target.

01 · Why does the PR6422-013-041 configuration matter when replacing an installed sensor?
The suffix specifies mechanical and cable characteristics rather than simply identifying the PR6422 family. PR6422-013-041 uses an M6 × 0.5 thread, armored cable, 50 mm sensor length, adaptor plug, 10 m cable and an open cable end. Matching these details can prevent a mechanically unsuitable or incorrectly terminated replacement.

02 · Can PR6422-013-041 be treated as interchangeable with another PR6422 variant?
Not automatically. PR6422 variants can differ in thread, armor, sensor length, adaptor arrangement, cable length and cable termination. A replacement should be checked against the existing mechanical installation and complete measurement chain rather than only the PR6422 family number.

03 · Is the PR6422-013-041 suitable where the machine shaft is relatively small?
The PR6422 is specifically positioned as a compact sensor for smaller shafts, with a stated shaft diameter of at least 20 mm. The actual mounting arrangement still needs sufficient clearance and the required target geometry.

04 · What should be checked with the converter before purchasing PR6422-013-041?
Verify that the installed converter is configured for the PR6422 sensor and the required measuring range. Emerson converter families such as CON011 and CON041 provide PR6422 configurations with a 1.0 mm standard range and specified extended-range options. The sensor and converter should be considered as one measurement chain.

05 · When should a buyer choose PR6422-013-041 instead of a different PR642x configuration?
PR6422-013-041 is particularly configuration-specific: it combines the compact 5 mm PR6422 sensor format with M6 × 0.5 mounting, armored cable, a 50 mm sensor length and a 10 m open-ended cable. It is appropriate when those mechanical and connection requirements match the existing installation. If the required measuring range, shaft size or installation geometry differs, another PR642x configuration may be required.
