The Allen-Bradley ACN15 is a ControlNet adapter module. This module connects to a remote I/O chassis and interfaces with the 1747-SCNR, typically located within the main chassis (the chassis containing the processor). As an adapter module, it requires a scanner module to function, as the scanner module is responsible for requesting I/O, diagnostics, and system updates from the scanner.
The 1747-ACN15 features a ControlNet port supporting high-speed data transfer and providing diagnostic information. A built-in Network Access Port (NAP) allows for local configuration of the module using an RJ45 connector and cable.
The 1747-ACN15 includes module status indicators, including CHA and OK LEDs. The CHA LED indicates the communication link status between the adapter and the scanner module, while the OK LED indicates the overall operational status of the module. It also features a seven-segment display that can show up to four characters.
