Descripution

The 1746-OAP12 SLC 500 Digital Output Module by Allen-Bradley is an AC output module fitted in any slot of the 1746 Chassis and it comes with a Removable Terminal Block (RTB). It has 12 outputs with 6 output points per electronically-fused common. The 1746-OAP12 has 120-240V AC of output voltage category and it has a module voltage range between 85 and 265V AC at 47-63Hz. The module has a backplane current of 0.370A at 5V DC voltage and it reaches 0A at 24V DC. The 1746-OAP12 has an output signal delay time of 11ms for OFF mode and 1ms for ON mode and the maximum leakage current on its output in its OFF state is 2mA. The lowest possible current load on each output point is 10mA, and the normal current on each point is 2A at 30 deg. Celsius (86 deg. Fahrenheit) and 1A at 60 deg. Celsius (140 deg. Fahrenheit). The 1746-OAP12 module has a total output current of 9A at 30 deg. Celsius (86 deg. Fahrenheit) and it has a voltage loss of 1.2V DC at 2.0A. It has a surge current of 17A for 25ms repeatable every 2 seconds at 60 deg. Celsius on each point and it has a surge of 35A per common for 10ms. The 1746-OAP12 has a maximum 1AW heat dissipation on each point and an overall module heat dissipation of 10.85W. Its operating temperature ranges between 0 and 60 deg. Celsius (32 and 140 deg. The 1746-OAP12 has Twelve (12) output channels with Six (6) points per common with each common installed with an electronic fuse. Additionally, it provides an isolation as one group of output channels may still continue to operate even if the fuse of the other channel group is busted. Additionally, this output module has an internal fuse that may be modified to enable monitoring of blown fuse. To enable monitoring of fuse, the jumper is set to short pins 2 and 3. By default, the jumper is set to terminals 2 and 1 which disables the monitoring of the fuse.

The 1746-OAP12 is compatible for use with any SLC500 processors. When used with SLC5/02 and later processors, programming a fault routine is not compatible to be used to clear the major fault bit. The module’s major fault bit is S:1/13 with major fault code stored in S:6. For a blown fuse, the appropriate replacement fuse is SAN-O HQ 6.3A. This fuse maintains UL/CSA rating. The appropriate catalog number for replacement fuse kit is 1746-F9 wherein there are Five (5) fuses per kit. The 1746-OAP12 has an inherent signal delay of 1ms for ON transition and 11.0 ms for OFF transition. It has a OFF state leakage Current of 2 mA.

 

Fuse Protection (1746-OAP12 modules)

A fuse is provided on each common of the 1746-OAP12 module for a total of two fuses. The fuses are designed to protect the module from short-circuit conditions. The fuse does not provide overload protection. In the event of an overload on an output channel, it is likely that the fuse will not blow and the output device associated with that channel will be damaged. To provide overload protection for your application, user-supplied fuses should be installed externally. The recommended fuse for overload protection is SAN-O HT. Select the fuse rating according to your load. Do not use HT fuses rated higher than 2.0 Amps.
