Four Independent Inputs |
The YOKOGAWA F3CX04-0H is a temperature monitoring module designed for mounting on an FA-M3 base module. It occupies a single slot and handles four temperature input channels. Each channel can be configured for thermocouple, RTD or DC voltage measurement, allowing different measurement types to be assigned according to the application.
The module supports both Single-input mode and Two-input Changeover mode. In the default Single-input mode, the four input-processing functions operate independently. Two input-processing functions can also be paired when a changeover arrangement is required.
Configuration concept: input conditions and required monitoring data are stored in the module, so the module does not require parameter setup at every system startup.

04 / FAMILY & SYSTEM
Where F3CX04-0H Fits
F3CX04-0H belongs to the FA-M3 temperature-monitoring architecture and is also presented within Yokogawa's e-RT3 temperature-monitoring family.

FUNCTIONAL POSITION
F3CX04-0H is focused on monitoring. The closely related F3CU modules are oriented toward temperature control/PID functions. This distinction matters when replacing or expanding a FA-M3 temperature section: a monitoring requirement should not be treated as interchangeable with a control-loop requirement simply because both modules accept universal temperature inputs. |

Q1 — Does YOKOGAWA F3CX04-0H make sense when the existing FA-M3 system needs mixed sensor types?
Yes, when the application requires different input categories across the four channels. F3CX04-0H supports thermocouple, RTD and DC voltage inputs, and the input type can be configured independently by channel. This is useful when one temperature-monitoring section contains different sensor technologies rather than four identical sensor types.
Q2 — When replacing F3CX04-0N with YOKOGAWA F3CX04-0H, what should the buyer verify first?
The key check is the existing sampling requirement and the installed FA-M3 configuration. F3CX04-0H retains the 4-channel universal-input structure and the same 15 thermocouple, 9 RTD and 6 DC-voltage input categories, while adding selectable 10 ms/4-channel and 100 ms/4-channel sampling options compared with the earlier F3CX04-0N configuration. The terminal arrangement and surrounding installation conditions should also be checked before replacement.
Q3 — Is YOKOGAWA F3CX04-0H the right choice if the application needs temperature PID control rather than monitoring?
F3CX04-0H is positioned as a temperature monitoring module, not as the primary temperature-control module. If the requirement includes four-loop PID control, the related F3CU04 family should be evaluated according to the required output arrangement. F3CU04-0H is associated with four universal-input control loops and time-proportional PID output, while F3CU04-1H adds continuous 4–20 mA output capability.
Q4 — Why should the sampling-period setting of YOKOGAWA F3CX04-0H be confirmed before ordering?
Because the available sampling configuration affects how quickly the module processes input changes. F3CX04-0H supports 10 ms, 100 ms and 200 ms sampling periods, with selectable combinations including 10 ms for four channels, 100 ms for two channels, 100 ms for four channels and 200 ms for four channels. In addition, 50/60 Hz noise cancellation is associated with 100 ms or 200 ms sampling; it is not enabled when the 10 ms sampling period is selected.
Q5 — What should be checked when YOKOGAWA F3CX04-0H will be installed in a temperature-sensitive cabinet?
Check the cabinet temperature, airflow, mounting orientation and warm-up requirements. The specified operating ambient range is 0 to 55°C, the module requires at least 30 minutes of warm-up, and the allowable ambient temperature change rate is 10°C/h maximum. The module should be mounted in the permitted horizontal orientation and its ventilation openings should not be obstructed.
