The module is installed in the AMN11 nest for analog I/O modules and connects to the nest terminals with M4 screws. |

Can AAM21 replace a standard 4–20 mA input module?
AAM21 is intended for mV, thermocouple, RTD and potentiometer signals. It should not be treated as a direct substitute for the AAM11/AAM11B current-voltage input class when the field device provides a standard 4–20 mA signal.

Is AAM21 suitable when one application mixes thermocouple and RTD measurements?
The AAM21 input family covers both thermocouple and 3-wire JPt100/Pt100 RTD measurement. The required input signal and range are selected by software configuration, so the actual field wiring and configured channel function should be checked before installation.

What should be checked when selecting AAM21 for a potentiometer application?
AAM21 supports a 3-wire potentiometer with a total resistance of 100 to 2000 Ω for guaranteed input conversion, with the span at 50% or more of the total resistance. The total resistance can be combined up to 30 kΩ.

When AAM21/AAM21J is used for thermocouple input, the specified temperature compensation module is ordered for each channel. This is an important selection point for thermocouple-based applications.
