The Yokogawa CP471 is a processor module designed for CENTUM field control units. Two CP471 modules can be used together in a dual-redundant configuration on a duplexed field control unit, providing a processor architecture intended for continuous industrial control applications. CP471-00 is the basic, non-explosion-protected suffix combination of the CP471 family and is associated with compatible AFV30, AFV40, A2FV50 and A2FV70 field control unit configurations. |

CP471-00 vs. CP461 in Upgrade Planning
CP471 was introduced as a processor generation for CENTUM VP field control units and can serve as a replacement path for existing CP461 configurations under defined conditions. A CP461 and CP471 cannot coexist as the two processors of the same dual-redundant pair.
A pair of CP461 modules may be replaced online by a pair of CP471 modules when the applicable conditions are satisfied.

01. Can CP471-00 be used when an existing CENTUM VP FCU still uses CP461?
CP471 was designed as a processor generation that can replace CP461 in defined CENTUM configurations. However, CP461 and CP471 cannot coexist as the two processors of the same dual-redundant pair. For an existing CP461 pair, the replacement procedure requires the applicable Control Function version and EC401 compatibility, and the CP461-to-CP471 replacement work is not a user-performed procedure; it must be carried out by an authorized Yokogawa service engineer.

02. What should be checked before ordering CP471-00 for a duplexed FCU?
Confirm the FCU model and suffix configuration, the CENTUM VP Control Function level, and the processor arrangement. A duplexed FCU using CP471 requires a matching CP471 processor pair for the redundant configuration. If EC401 is part of the same architecture, its style code must be S3 or later for combination with CP471.

03. Does CP471-00 have the same suffix meaning as CP471-01?
No. The first suffix position distinguishes the explosion-protection configuration: “-0” indicates no explosion protection, while “-1” indicates the explosion-protection version. The second suffix position distinguishes the basic type from the ISA Standard G3 option. Therefore CP471-00 is specifically the no-explosion-protection, basic-type combination.

04. Can CP471-00 be online-replaced during operation?
Online replacement of CP471 in a dual-redundant configuration is supported under the applicable system conditions. This is different from replacing an existing CP461 with CP471: the CP461-to-CP471 replacement requires an authorized service engineer. The exact FCU configuration and software level should therefore be verified before planning a live replacement.

05. Why does CP471-00 require attention to the EC401 style code?
CP471 is part of a CENTUM FCU architecture in which the processor and ESB bus coupling arrangement must be compatible. When EC401 is used together with CP471, the EC401 style code must be S3 or later.
