ANT502-53 belongs to the ANT502 family of Optical ESB Bus Repeater Slave Modules. It provides optical ESB bus transport for extending an ESB bus connection over optical fiber, with a maximum transmission distance of 5 km for one hop. The module is used as the slave side of an optical ESB bus repeater pair and can be installed in an Optical ESB Bus Node Unit or an Optical ESB Bus Repeater Unit.

01 / PRODUCT ARCHITECTURE
Optical transport at the ESB boundary
The ANT502 is the slave-side optical ESB repeater module. Its role is not to act as a conventional process I/O channel. Instead, it provides the optical transport path that allows the ESB bus to span a substantially longer physical distance through fiber.
For a 5 km optical connection, the ANT502 works with the corresponding ANT401 master-side module. The optical link uses two fiber cores and LC optical connectors.
ESB bus → optical fiber → ESB bus
The optical repeater arrangement converts the ESB bus transmission into an optical path and uses the ANT502 on the slave side of the optical section. This arrangement is intended for long-distance ESB communication between supported Yokogawa system units.

ANT502 is installed as a standard slave module in an Optical ESB Bus Node Unit and can also be installed in an Optical ESB Bus Repeater Unit. The exact installation slot depends on the supported unit and whether the configuration is single or dual-redundant.

ANT502 family and related optical modules
ANT502-53
5 km Optical ESB Bus Repeater Slave Module. The “-53” variant is associated with the G3 and -20°C to +70°C option used for maintenance purposes.
ANT502-50
The 5 km ANT502 family variant without the -53 maintenance-oriented option. It performs the same basic slave-side optical ESB transport role.
ANT512
Optical ESB Bus Repeater Slave Module for the 5–50 km family. It belongs to a longer-distance optical repeater architecture rather than the 5 km ANT502 configuration.
ANT522
Optical ESB Bus Repeater Slave Module for 4 km. Its transmission-distance class differs from the 5 km ANT502 family.

HKU interface option
When the appropriate A2EE3A connector with HKU interface is used, cabinet environmental information can be transmitted to the FCU through the optical ESB bus. The FCU can monitor the connected cabinet’s environmental conditions and HKU operating status.
For an ANT502-53 requirement, provide the exact part number together with quantity, destination and required date. For system matching, it is useful to specify the associated Yokogawa unit, optical repeater arrangement and required transmission distance.

07 / PURCHASING QUESTIONS
ANT502-53 FAQ
Can ANT502-53 be used as the master module in a 5 km optical ESB link?
No. ANT502 is the optical ESB Bus Repeater Slave Module. In the 5 km ANT401/ANT502 arrangement, ANT401 is the master-side module and ANT502 is the slave-side module. Ordering the wrong side of the repeater pair can therefore create a system-matching problem even when the distance requirement is correct.
Does ANT502-53 require a specific optical fiber type for the 5 km distance?
The specified optical fiber is quartz single-mode fiber, using two cores. The stated types include JIS C 6835 SSMA-9.3/125 or IEC 60793-2-50 B1.1. The maximum optical loss is specified as 0–10 dB at 1.3 μm, so both fiber type and link loss should be considered when matching an existing installation.
What is the practical difference between ANT502-53 and ANT512 when replacing an optical repeater slave?
They belong to different transmission-distance classes. ANT502 is the 5 km optical repeater slave family, while ANT512 is specified for the 5–50 km optical repeater family. A replacement should therefore match the existing optical repeater architecture rather than being selected only because both products are slave modules.
What should be checked if an ANT502-53 is being installed in a redundant Yokogawa configuration?
The installation arrangement matters. For dual-redundant configurations, the repeater modules are installed in pairs of continuous slots. ESB bus 1 uses the odd-numbered slot and ESB bus 2 uses the even-numbered slot. The supported unit and its slot arrangement should therefore be confirmed before replacement.
When does the HKU interface matter for an ANT502-53 purchase?
The HKU interface is relevant when cabinet environmental monitoring is required through the optical ESB bus. With the appropriate A2EE3A connector option, environmental information from the cabinet can be transmitted to the FCU, allowing cabinet conditions and HKU operating status to be monitored. It is an installation-specific option rather than a universal requirement for every ANT502 application.
