SPM-D2-1010B/YB Synchronizing Unit
The Woodward 8440-2167 is the SPM-D2-1010B/YB version of the SPM-D2 synchronizing unit. It is a three-phase synchronizing device designed to coordinate two electrical systems and can perform synchronization, synch-check and dead-bus start functions when the applicable control inputs and functions are enabled. The 8440-2167 configuration uses the 100 Vac measuring-input version, flush mounting and the YB package with a nominal 24 Vdc control supply. The SPM-D2 family is intended for synchronization of two electrical systems. A typical application is synchronizing a mains-parallel generator to the utility mains. In a generator installation, the unit can compare the generator and busbar electrical conditions, adjust frequency and voltage through the associated control equipment, and release the breaker closing command when the configured synchronization conditions are satisfied. Synch-check and dead-bus functions provide additional operating scenarios where breaker closing must be governed by predefined electrical conditions. |
