The Woodward 8200-188 is a 125 VDC Digital Valve Positioner driver configured for IP30 service, terminal-block input and circular-connector output. Within the DVP family, it provides the electronic drive stage used to position compatible electric valves and actuators from a control-system demand while using resolver feedback for valve or actuator position.

Where 8200-188 MattersThe DVP is used as an electric actuator driver. It receives a positioning demand from the control system and controls compatible Woodward valves or actuators. Resolver feedback located on the valve or actuator provides the position signal used by the driver for positioning control. For maintenance teams, the 8200-188 becomes especially relevant when a DVP-based valve position does not respond correctly to the commanded demand, when the valve/actuator positioning chain requires investigation, or when an existing 125 VDC IP30 driver with terminal-block input and circular-connector output must be replaced without changing the surrounding configuration.

SERVICE SCENARIO
When the Position Loop Becomes Critical
A DVP driver is part of the valve positioning chain. If the driver, interface, power path, actuator or feedback path cannot perform correctly, the commanded valve position may not be achieved. For turbine and process-control equipment, an unresolved valve-positioning problem can extend troubleshooting time and contribute to operational interruption. Correct model, voltage class and connection configuration therefore matter during replacement planning. |
