PRODUCT ARCHITECTURE

A precise role inside the SIMATIC ecosystem

TM PosInput 2 is a two-channel S7-1500 technology module for high-speed counting, position detection and measured-value acquisition. Each channel can be matched to an RS-422 incremental encoder or an SSI absolute encoder and performs preprocessing close to the controller.

The two channels can run independently. Typical tasks include position acquisition, continuous counting, frequency measurement, speed measurement and period measurement, reducing the processing burden on the central controller.

Each channel has two 24 V digital inputs and two 24 V transistor digital outputs. Inputs can control application functions such as gate, synchronization or capture; outputs can react to configured comparison events.

Encoder power is available for 5 V and 24 V devices per channel. The module uses a rated 24 V DC load supply with a permissible range of 19.2 to 28.8 V and includes reverse-polarity protection.

The module mounts on an S7-1500 rail and supports isochronous operation. For a replacement, verify encoder electrical format, SSI frame settings or incremental signal format, channel wiring, front connector and project firmware support.
