Rack Automatic Transfer Switch
A 1U rack-mounted automatic transfer switch designed to provide redundant AC power to connected single-cord equipment. AP4423 accepts two independent IEC C20 input connections and distributes the selected source through eight C13 and one C19 output receptacles.

Power Architecture
AP4423 is an automatic transfer switch for rack-mounted IT equipment. The unit normally supplies the connected load from the preferred AC source and can transfer the load to the alternate source when the preferred source becomes unavailable or moves outside the configured transfer criteria. The two-source architecture is intended for equipment that has a single AC power input but requires greater source redundancy at the rack level. Operating concept: Source A / Source B → automatic source selection → common rack load output.

Transfer Behavior
AP4423 monitors the condition of its available AC sources and uses configured voltage and frequency criteria to determine whether the preferred source remains acceptable. When a source falls outside the applicable transfer conditions, the ATS can change the supply path to the alternate source. The design is intended to maintain power to supported single-cord rack equipment while the source transition takes place. |

200 / 208 V CLASS
The AP443x family covers different 200/208 V configurations, making it distinct from the 230 V AP4423 architecture.

LOWER VOLTAGE CLASS
AP445x models address 100/120 V applications and therefore should not be treated as direct electrical equivalents of AP4423.

01 · Is AP4423 still available for replacement projects?
AP4423 is a discontinued model. Schneider Electric states that AP4423 was discontinued on June 9, 2023 and identifies AP4423A as its replacement. For a replacement project, the original AP4423 electrical configuration should be compared with the AP4423A configuration and the actual rack installation before purchase.

02 · Can AP4423 support a rack load that uses both C13 and C19 connections?
Yes. AP4423 provides eight IEC C13 output receptacles and one IEC C19 output receptacle. The total output load remains subject to the model's maximum 16 A output current and 3700 VA load capacity, so the combined connected load must remain within the applicable electrical limits.

03 · Does AP4423 require two independent power sources to provide its redundancy function?
AP4423 is designed around two AC input connections, one for each source. Its redundancy function depends on the availability of two suitable AC sources connected to the two IEC C20 inputs. A single source connection does not provide the same source redundancy as a properly connected dual-source installation.

04 · Is AP4423 suitable when the rack requires remote load monitoring?
AP4423 includes network and local interfaces and supports aggregate current monitoring, alarms, event visibility and remote management functions. This makes the model applicable where rack-level power status needs to be monitored rather than relying only on local physical inspection.

05 · What should buyers verify before ordering AP4423 as a spare unit?
Verify the required 230 V supply, 50/60 Hz operating environment, dual IEC C20 input arrangement, eight C13 plus one C19 output configuration, 16 A maximum output current, 1U rack space, mounting arrangement and network-management requirements. Because AP4423 is discontinued and AP4423A is the stated replacement, buyers should also confirm whether the newer replacement's management and physical characteristics are acceptable for the existing installation.
