Technical Architecture

The X-CPU 01 combines a safety-related processor system, system controller, Ethernet switch, memory, mode switch and status indicators within the HIMax processor module.
PROCESSING CORE
The safety-related processor system uses a 1oo2 architecture with two synchronous microprocessors. A hardware comparator checks processor data, while a watchdog monitors processor operation. Continuous self-tests support safe operation.
The module uses PowerPC processing and provides dedicated DDRAM for the processor system. The non-volatile memory retains operating system data, user project data, configuration values, retain variables, production data, fault history and events.

The processor module provides four Ethernet interfaces through the connector board. The interfaces form a 10/100/1000 Base-T switch and support half- and full-duplex operation, auto negotiation and auto crossover.
