HIMA X-CI 24 01 24-Channel Counter Module

A HIMax counter module designed for safety-related counting, frequency measurement and rotational-speed applications. The X-CI 24 01 provides 24 counter inputs and supports safety-related operation up to SIL 3.

X-CI 24 01 is intended for the HIMax programmable electronic system. It is designed to process pulse signals from connected field devices and can be used for pulse counting, frequency measurement and rotational-speed measurement. When rotational direction recognition is required, channel pairs are used.

In a HIMax safety-control architecture, the X-CI 24 01 can be used where pulse signals must be counted or converted into frequency and rotational-speed values. Typical signals can come from proximity switches or Type 3 control-circuit devices.

During maintenance, a replacement search is particularly relevant when a counter channel develops a field fault, a module indicates an internal error, or reliable pulse feedback is no longer available. The module provides front-panel diagnostics, including module, system-bus and channel-related indications.

A module fault causes the counter module to enter its safe state, with rotational speed set to 0 and the last valid counter process value retained by the user program. In a production environment, loss of valid speed or pulse feedback can therefore initiate protective action and contribute to equipment stoppage until the fault is resolved.

The X-CI 24 01 belongs to the HIMax counter-module family. The closely related X-CI 24 51 also provides 24 channels and a 0–20 kHz counter range, while the X-CI 24 01 adds the safety-related SIL 3 position required for suitable safety applications.
