Designed Around RX3i Power-Loss Protection
IC695ACC400-CA belongs to the PACSystems RX3i Energy Pack family. The Energy Pack is positioned beside an RX3i module rather than occupying a conventional backplane slot, allowing the backup function to be integrated with the controller installation without consuming another backplane position.
During normal operation, the Energy Pack receives charging power through the dedicated connection from the compatible CPU. When system power is lost, the stored energy supports the CPU long enough for user memory contents to be transferred to non-volatile flash storage.
The IC695ACC400 configuration is associated with the RX3i CPE305 and CPE310 CPU platform. The Energy Pack connects to the CPU using the IC695CBL001 Energy Pack cable.

What the Energy Pack Protects
The primary purpose is not to operate field I/O independently. Instead, the Energy Pack supports the controller during a power-loss event so the CPU has time to preserve user memory in non-volatile storage.
This makes the component particularly relevant where controller state retention is important and an unexpected power interruption must not immediately remove the working memory contents of the CPU.
