The IC200ALG230 is a VersaMax analog input module providing four single-ended analog channels. The channels can interface with voltage or current field signals, with voltage operation supporting bipolar ±10 VDC or configurable unipolar 0–10 VDC, and current operation supporting 4–20 mA.

IC200ALG230 is intended for VersaMax distributed I/O architectures where four analog field signals must be brought into the control system. All four inputs are single-ended and share a common return. The module receives its operating power from the backplane, so a separate external supply is not required for the module itself.

For a replacement purchase, the important configuration point is not only the catalog number. The carrier jumper arrangement determines whether the module operates in voltage or current mode, and voltage mode can be configured for bipolar or unipolar operation. A field installation therefore needs to be checked against the intended signal type before the module is installed.

The module provides four words of analog input data. Processing is performed by the CPU or NIU, while the module provides local status indication through the INT PWR and OK LEDs.

Carrier jumpers determine the operating mode.

One carrier jumper selects voltage or current operation. In current mode, the module accepts 4–20 mA. With the current-mode jumper absent, voltage operation is used, with ±10 VDC as the default range. A second carrier jumper can select the 0–10 VDC range for voltage operation.

INSTALLATION DECISION

Confirm the existing carrier, signal type and jumper arrangement before replacing an installed module. Voltage and current devices can be connected per channel, but not both on the same channel.

The module is suited to VersaMax control installations that need a compact four-channel analog interface for transmitter, sensor or other industrial analog signals represented by 4–20 mA, ±10 VDC or 0–10 VDC.

Because the four channels share a common return and are single-ended, the existing field wiring arrangement should be checked before ordering a replacement. The module is particularly relevant when maintaining an existing VersaMax architecture where retaining the established four-channel analog layout is important.

Q1. Can IC200ALG230 replace an existing four-channel VersaMax analog input module directly?

It is designed as a four-channel VersaMax analog input module, but replacement should be checked against the existing carrier arrangement and field signal configuration. The IC200ALG230 uses carrier jumpers to select voltage/current operation and voltage range, so the existing installation should be checked rather than treating the module number alone as the complete replacement condition.

Q2. Is IC200ALG230 suitable when the existing field devices use 4–20 mA?

Yes. The current-input configuration accepts 4–20 mA. The carrier jumper must be arranged for current operation. The current input impedance is specified as 200 Ω maximum, and the module provides 4 µA resolution per 8 counts.

Q3. Why should the carrier jumper configuration of IC200ALG230 be checked before shipment?

Because the module's operating mode is selected at the carrier. One jumper determines voltage or current operation, while another can select the 0–10 VDC voltage range. A replacement that arrives with an incorrect configuration can require field reconfiguration before the connected signal can be handled correctly.

No external power supply is required for the module itself. The module receives power from the VersaMax backplane. The specified backplane current consumption is 125 mA maximum at the 5 V output. Power for user transceivers, when required by the field application, is separate.

Q5. What should be checked if an IC200ALG230 installation loses its expected analog reading?

First verify the selected signal mode and carrier jumper arrangement, then check the common return and field wiring. The INT PWR LED indicates internally generated field power, while the OK LED indicates backplane power at the module. The module also reports a Loss of Internal Power diagnostic.
