The PR9268/60x-000 family uses an electrodynamic, low-tuned measuring principle for absolute vibration measurement. The 60x configuration is designed for vertical measurement and high-temperature machinery environments, making the family suitable for critical rotating equipment such as turbines, compressors, pumps and fans.

Measurement Concept
PR9268/603-000 belongs to the PR9268/60x-000 high-temperature family. The sensing principle is electrodynamic and low-tuned, intended for absolute vibration measurement. The vertical 60x configuration is designed around the vertical measurement axis, with the installation angle affecting the available measuring range.
WHY THE 60x FAMILY MATTERS
The 60x series extends the PR9268 platform into higher-temperature machinery locations. The sensor is self-powered and provides an electrodynamic velocity output, which makes it suitable for vibration monitoring arrangements where a direct velocity signal is required.
Installation Orientation
PR9268/60x-000 is specified for vertical measurement. Without the applicable lifting/sinking current, the nominal measuring direction is limited to ±30°. With the appropriate current arrangement, the specified angular range can extend to ±60°. Incorrect installation angle can reduce the available measuring range.

High-Temperature Operation
The PR9268/60x-000 configuration is designed for operating temperatures from -20°C to +200°C for the transducer without connector. Short-time operation below four hours can reach up to 220°C under the applicable conditions.
Connector Temperature
The connector has a lower temperature limit than the sensor body. The applicable connector temperature must therefore be considered separately when planning the installation.

Signal Characteristics
Resistance is specified as approximately 3270 Ω ±10% at Pin 3 and approximately 3770 Ω ±10% at Pin 1.
Inductance is specified up to 160 mH for the 60x/70x family.
The sensing element is self-powered, eliminating a separate power supply requirement for the electrodynamic sensing principle.

Can PR9268/603-000 replace another PR9268 sensor directly?
Not automatically. PR9268/603-000 is a vertical high-temperature 60x configuration, so the replacement check should include the existing sensor's measuring direction, temperature conditions, cable configuration, connector arrangement and the input characteristics of the receiving system. A conventional-temperature PR9268/20x or /30x variant should not be treated as an equivalent solely because it belongs to the same PR9268 family.

Why is the vertical orientation of PR9268/603-000 important during replacement?
The PR9268/60x-000 family is specified for vertical measurement. Its usable angular range depends on whether the appropriate lifting or sinking current is applied. If the sensor is mounted away from its nominal direction without the applicable arrangement, the available measuring range can be reduced.

Is PR9268/603-000 suitable when the sensor body is exposed to temperatures near 200°C?
Yes, the PR9268/60x-000 sensor configuration is specified for an operating range of -20°C to +200°C for the transducer without connector. The connector has a lower temperature limit, so an installation with elevated ambient temperature must consider the connector location separately. Short-time excursions below four hours may reach up to 220°C under the applicable conditions.

What should be checked if the existing vibration monitoring channel uses a different load resistance?
The specified sensitivity of PR9268/603-000 depends on the selected pin and load condition. The 60x family specifies 22.0 mV/mm/s ±5% at Pin 3 with a 100 Ω load, while 16.7 mV/mm/s ±5% is specified at Pin 1 with a 50 Ω load and at Pin 4 with a 20 Ω load. Therefore, the receiving channel and its input load should be checked before assuming that two signal arrangements will produce the same output scaling.

Does PR9268/603-000 require an external power supply for its sensing element?
No separate excitation supply is required for the electrodynamic sensing element because the PR9268 design is self-powered. However, the complete monitoring chain still needs to be electrically compatible with the sensor output, selected pin arrangement and receiving equipment.
