The Bently Nevada 74712 is a high-temperature version of the 9200 Seismoprobe family. It uses moving-coil technology to produce a voltage output proportional to vibration velocity. The two-wire design is self-powered, making the transducer suitable for continuous monitoring as well as portable measurement applications.
The sensing concept is intended for measurements taken from bearing housings, machine casings and structural locations where casing vibration provides a useful representation of machine behavior.

INSTALLATION ORIENTATION
The Seismoprobe family is specified for defined mounting orientations. Correct orientation and secure mounting are important because improper installation can reduce amplitude or frequency response and may produce signals that do not represent actual vibration.

FAMILY RELATION
9200 → 74712
The 9200 and 74712 share the Seismoprobe velocity-transducer concept. The key family distinction is temperature capability: the 74712 extends the temperature range for applications requiring the high-temperature version.
9200 General Seismoprobe version −29°C to +121°C
74712 High-temperature Seismoprobe −29°C to +204°C
Shared Principle Two-wire moving-coil velocity measurement Absolute casing / housing vibration
APPLICATION POSITION
A casing-mounted velocity signal for machinery condition monitoring
The transducer is intended for applications where vibration is measured at a bearing housing, casing or structural mounting location. The moving-coil construction is less sensitive to impact excitation than integrating accelerometers, which can be useful for certain measurement conditions.

PURCHASING QUESTIONS
74712-06-12-04-04 / FAQ
Configuration-focused answers for specification matching, installation planning and replacement evaluation.
Can 74712-06-12-04-04 be selected when the installation temperature is above the 9200 range?
Yes. The 74712 is the high-temperature member of the 9200/74712 Seismoprobe family and is qualified from −29°C to +204°C, while the 9200 is qualified from −29°C to +121°C.
What does the 74712-06-12-04-04 configuration specify for the mounting base?
The “12” mounting-base option is an isolated circular base using a 1/2-20 UNF-2A stud. This isolated base is also consistent with the agency-approval configuration used by the final “04” option.
Does 74712-06-12-04-04 use a side-mounted connector?
Yes. In the 74712 configuration structure, connector option “04” denotes the side-mounted connector arrangement.
What signal level should be expected from 74712-06-12-04-04 during specification matching?
The family sensitivity is 20 mV/mm/s (500 mV/in/s), ±5%, when properly terminated and oriented at the calibration angle. The specified calibration load is 10 kΩ.
What should be checked before replacing an existing 74712-06-12-04-04?
Confirm the complete four-part configuration, mounting orientation, isolated-base requirement, side connector arrangement, temperature envelope, monitoring interface and cable arrangement. The 74712 high-temperature configuration does not use the integral hardline cable options available for the 9200.
