The 3300 5 mm Proximity Transducer System measures the distance between the probe tip and a conductive surface, providing both static position and dynamic vibration data.
CONSTRAINED INSTALLATIONS
Compact 5 mm Geometry
The smaller physical packaging of the 5 mm probe is intended for situations where physical constraints can prevent the use of an 8 mm probe, such as mounting between thrust-bearing pads.
 
In a complete system, the probe works together with a compatible 3300 XL extension cable and 3300 XL Proximitor Sensor. The complete transducer arrangement is used for vibration and position measurement, as well as Keyphasor and speed measurement applications.

Why would a 5 mm probe be selected instead of an 8 mm probe?
The 5 mm design uses smaller physical packaging while maintaining the same linear range as a 3300 XL 8 mm probe. It is useful where physical constraints prevent installation of an 8 mm probe, including restricted spaces around thrust-bearing pads.

No. The 3300 5 mm measurement chain consists of the probe, a compatible 3300 XL extension cable, and a 3300 XL Proximitor Sensor. The probe is one component of the complete transducer system.
