3300 XL 8 mm Proximity Probe · M10 × 1 · Armored Construction
The 330104-10-20-10-02-00 is an armored member of the Bently Nevada 3300 XL 8 mm proximity probe family. Its M10 × 1 threaded construction is intended for standard mounting arrangements where mechanical protection around the lead is required. The probe forms the sensing element of a matched eddy-current proximity transducer system used for non-contact measurement of shaft displacement, vibration and position.

|
Sensing Element
01
|
The 3300 XL 8 mm probe uses a non-contact eddy-current sensing principle. The 8.0 mm probe tip operates as part of the complete transducer loop rather than as a stand-alone voltage-output sensor. The matched system converts changes in the gap between probe tip and conductive target into an electrical signal representing shaft movement.
|
|
Mechanical Configuration
02
|
This specific configuration uses an M10 × 1 metric case thread with stainless-steel armor around the lead. The ordering configuration corresponds to a 100 mm unthreaded section, 200 mm overall case length, and 1.0 m total probe length. The armored construction is useful where the probe lead needs additional mechanical protection.
|
|
Electrical Interface
03
|
The probe uses a miniature coaxial ClickLoc connector with standard cable in this configuration. The probe is designed to operate with its compatible 3300 XL Proximitor Sensor and extension-cable arrangement. The standard system has a nominal incremental scale factor of 7.87 V/mm (200 mV/mil).
|
|
Measurement Behavior
04
|
Within the matched 3300 XL system, the nominal linear range is approximately 0.25 to 2.3 mm from the target, with a recommended radial gap of approximately 1.27 mm (50 mils). The system frequency response is specified from 0 to 10 kHz, +0/−3 dB, with up to 305 m of field wiring under the system conditions specified for the 3300 XL family.

330103
M10 × 1 / Without Armor
The 330103 family uses the same metric M10 × 1 mechanical concept but does not include the armored lead construction used by 330104.
|
→ |
330104
M10 × 1 / With Armor
330104-10-20-10-02-00 belongs here. Its 100 mm unthreaded length, 200 mm case length and 1.0 m total length define its mechanical installation geometry.
|
→ |
330105 / 330106
Reverse-Mount Variants
These families change the mounting arrangement rather than simply changing cable length. They should not be treated as direct mechanical substitutes without checking the installation geometry.
|
|
System Compatibility Logic
A complete 3300 XL proximity measurement loop combines the probe with the appropriate extension cable and Proximitor Sensor. Matching the probe family and configuration is therefore more important than comparing the probe length alone.
|
Why the 330104 Configuration Matters
The armored construction adds mechanical protection, while the M10 × 1 thread establishes the metric mounting interface. The 10-20-10-02-00 ordering combination also fixes the unthreaded section, case length, total length, connector/cable configuration and approval option.

| 01 |
Can 330104-10-20-10-02-00 replace another 3300 XL probe simply because both use M10 × 1?
No. The M10 × 1 thread identifies the mechanical thread family, but the complete ordering configuration also determines unthreaded length, case length, total cable length, connector/cable arrangement and approval option. The installed geometry should therefore be checked against the complete part number before substitution.
|
| 02 |
Is the 100 mm unthreaded section of 330104-10-20-10-02-00 important when matching an existing installation?
Yes. The unthreaded section is part of the mechanical configuration. This version uses 100 mm, while the overall case length is 200 mm. Changing these dimensions can affect where the probe sits relative to the machine target and mounting hardware.
|
| 03 |
Does 330104-10-20-10-02-00 use the same measurement principle as other 3300 XL 8 mm probes?
Yes. It belongs to the 3300 XL 8 mm proximity transducer family and uses the same eddy-current measurement concept. Within the matched system, the nominal incremental scale factor is 7.87 V/mm (200 mV/mil), with approximately 2.0 mm of linear range and a 0–10 kHz frequency response.
|
| 04 |
Why should the armored version 330104-10-20-10-02-00 be selected instead of an unarmored 330103 configuration?
The main distinction is mechanical protection around the lead. The 330104 family incorporates armor, while 330103 is the corresponding M10 × 1 family without armor. Selection should therefore follow the actual routing and mechanical protection requirements of the installation rather than the electrical specifications alone.
|
| 05 |
What should be checked when ordering 330104-10-20-10-02-00 for an existing monitoring loop?
Confirm the complete probe number, M10 × 1 mounting arrangement, 100 mm unthreaded length, 200 mm case length, 1.0 m total length, armored construction, ClickLoc connector with standard cable, and the 00 approval option. It is also important to verify the associated Proximitor Sensor and extension-cable arrangement.

The 3500/33 16-Channel Relay Module is a full-height module that provides 16 relay outputs. You can place any number of 16-channel relay modules in any of the slots to the right of the Transient Data Interface (TDI) Module. Each output of the 3500/33 16-Channel Relay Module can be independently programmed to perform voting logic.
The 3500/60 & 61 modules provide six channels of temperature monitoring and accept both Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) and Thermocouple (TC) temperature inputs. The modules condition these inputs and compare them against user-programmable alarm setpoints. The 3500/60 and 3500/61 provide identical functionality except that the 3500/61 provides recorder outputs for each of its six channels while the 3500/60 does not.

The 3500/72M Recip Rod Position Monitor meets API 618 requirements for reciprocating compressors. It measures: l Rod position l Rod drop l Hyper-compressor The four-channel 3500/72M Recip Rod Position Monitor accepts input from proximity transducers, conditions the signal to provide dynamic and static position measurements, and compares the conditioned signals with userprogrammable alarms. Each channel, depending on how you configure it, typically conditions its input signal to generate various parameters called measured values.
The 3500/62 Process Variable Monitor is a 6-channel monitor for processing machine critical parameters that merit continuous monitoring, such as pressures, flows, temperatures, and levels. The monitor accepts +4 to +20 mA current inputs or any proportional voltage inputs between -10 Vdc and +10 Vdc. It conditions these signals and compares the conditioned signals to user-programmable alarm setpoints.
