PPS Housing Assembly with Defined Probe and Mounting Options
3300 XL NSv · 0.5 m cable · 1.5 in standoff · 3.0 in penetration

01 / PRODUCT PROFILE
External Probe Access with Configurable Mounting Geometry

The Bently Nevada 31000/32000 proximity probe housing assemblies are intended for mounting proximity probes through a machine case. They are typically used for radial vibration or Keyphasor measurements. The housing provides external access to the probe and extension cable so that gap adjustment or probe replacement can be performed without dismantling the machine.

This configuration specifies a 3300 XL NSv probe with connector protector and selectable hazardous-area approvals, a 0.5 m cable, a 1.5 in standoff adapter, a 3.0 in penetration, option-02 fittings and a 3/4-14 NPT mounting thread. The complete transducer system, actual machine dimensions and approval conditions must be checked before installation.

01 / PROBE
3300 XL NSv
Connector protector included in the selected probe option.
02 / CABLE & STANDOFF
0.5 m + 1.5 in
The specified lead and standoff arrangement must fit the installed machine geometry.
03 / PENETRATION
3.0 in
The D030 option specifies a 3.0 in penetration dimension.
04 / HOUSING MATERIAL
PPS + metal components
The housing body uses glass-reinforced PPS; other components use corrosion-resistant metal materials as specified for the assembly.
Geometry check: C + D = 4.5 in

The nominal combined standoff and penetration dimensions are 1.5 in + 3.0 in = 4.5 in. This value alone does not prove fit. Verify probe-lead-length limits, cable-label visibility, the actual mounting interface and the clearance available at the machine.

02 / SYSTEM RELATIONSHIPS
Match the Housing to the Measurement Task

The 31000/32000 housing family is designed for external probe access, commonly for radial vibration or Keyphasor measurements. For radial vibration, the machine casing should be affixed to the bearing to support accurate relative vibration measurement. For dual-probe shaft axial-position measurement, the 21022 housing family is the specific option to review.

Family Main distinction Selection focus
31000 PPS housing assembly with configurable probe and fitting options Configured external probe mounting and matching installed assemblies
32000 Related PPS housing family with its own order options Confirm the original family, mounting dimensions and full suffix
21000 Aluminum metal housing Metal housing preference and matching the existing 21000 configuration
24701 Stainless-steel housing family Material-specific needs and matching the installed interface
164818 Related metal housing family Verify its own complete part number and application
21022 Dual axial probe housing assembly Dual-probe shaft axial-position measurements
Environmental and hazardous-area boundary

The 31000/32000 housing is intended to provide mechanical and environmental protection and is not an explosion-proof housing. Type 4X / IP66 ratings do not mean pressure-tight or explosion-proof. Intrinsically safe use requires an approved transducer system, appropriate I.S. barriers and compliance with the installation requirements.

05 / BUYER QUESTIONS
31000-32-05-15-030-02-02 FAQ
Q1. What should I verify when replacing 31000-32-05-15-030-02-02?

Confirm the 3300 XL NSv probe option, 0.5 m cable, 1.5 in standoff, 3.0 in penetration, option-02 fittings, 3/4-14 NPT mounting thread, required approvals and available machine clearance. Compare the full suffix and actual installation dimensions.

Q2. Is the 4.5 in C + D dimension the same as the probe's overall length?

No. It is the nominal sum of the selected standoff and penetration dimensions. The complete probe lead arrangement, cable label position, machine-case geometry and clearance still need to be checked.

Q3. Can I use this 31000 housing in an explosion-proof installation?

The housing itself is not explosion-proof. For hazardous-area use, verify the approved probe and transducer system, required intrinsic-safety barriers and the applicable site installation requirements. Where an explosion-proof housing is mandatory, check the appropriate approved housing family instead.

Q4. Should I choose 31000 or 21000 for a replacement?

Compare the installed housing family, material, mounting thread, penetration, fitting arrangement and hazardous-area requirements. The 31000/32000 family uses a PPS housing body, while 21000 is an aluminum housing. They are not automatic drop-in replacements for one another.

Q5. What details help prevent ordering a mismatched 31000 assembly?

Provide the full part number, quantity, destination, required date, machine type, photos of the existing housing and mounting point, plus the current probe/cable arrangement. Include the monitor or transducer system and site approval requirements when known.
