Two dual-port chassis communication modules built for resilient EtherNet/IP architectures. Both support embedded-switch topologies, real-time I/O, messaging and integrated motion, while 1756-EN4TR expands bandwidth, connection scale, motion capacity and network security for larger systems.

CHECK SERIES, FIRMWARE AND TOPOLOGY BEFORE PURCHASE
Send the module catalog number, series, firmware, controller type and intended network topology.
Network: dual copper RJ45, 10/100 Mbps Connections: up to 128 TCP and 256 CIP Backplane load: 1 A at 5.1 Vdc; 3 mA at 24 Vdc Power dissipation: 5.1 W Environment: 0 to 60 degrees C; 5 to 95% RH, noncondensing
Suited to resilient ControlLogix networks requiring distributed I/O, explicit messaging and higher-capacity integrated motion without gigabit bandwidth.
1756-EN4TR
GIGABIT + CIP SECURITY PLATFORM
Network: dual copper RJ45, 10/100/1000 Mbps Connections: up to 512 TCP; 256 Logix connections Motion capacity: up to 256 axes Backplane load: 1.2 A at 5.1 Vdc Security: CIP Security capable with supported firmware and architecture
Designed for larger node counts, heavier traffic, high-axis-count motion and segmented security strategies where the surrounding system supports the required features.
Both modules are open-style, chassis-mounted devices and occupy one ControlLogix slot. Their two ports support embedded-switch arrangements such as Device Level Ring and linear networks. Final engineering must consider controller generation, Studio 5000 release, module series, firmware, EDS/AOP compatibility, requested packet interval, multicast loading and switch configuration.
REAL-TIME I/O
Producer/consumer EtherNet/IP connections carry cyclic I/O between controllers, adapters and field devices.
INTEGRATED MOTION
CIP Motion traffic shares the EtherNet/IP infrastructure; axis count and update demand must remain within module and controller limits.
RESILIENT TOPOLOGY
The embedded switch supports DLR participation; ring-supervisor responsibility and network convergence behavior must be planned.
DIAGNOSTICS
Front display and status indicators support commissioning, address confirmation and fault isolation without replacing network-level diagnostics.

Upgrade caution: Physical slot fit does not prove application compatibility. Confirm chassis power budget, Logix Designer support, controller and redundancy revisions, network configuration, security certificates and the behavior of any existing ring before migrating.

REQUEST A QUOTE FOR 1756-EN3TR OR 1756-EN4TR
Send the module catalog number, series, firmware, controller type and intended network topology.
Can 1756-EN3TR be replaced by 1756-EN4TR without project changes? The chassis slot is similar, but firmware support, Studio 5000 compatibility, module definition, network settings, redundancy revisions and chassis power must all be checked before migration.
Does 1756-EN4TR automatically make every connection run at 1 Gbps? No. Each link negotiates with the connected device and infrastructure. Cabling, switches and peer ports must support gigabit operation to use that rate.
Can 1756-EN3TR operate as a Device Level Ring supervisor? It can participate in DLR architectures, but supervisor roles, ring order and fault behavior must be configured deliberately and validated for the installed revision.
Is CIP Security active by default on 1756-EN4TR? CIP Security requires a supported firmware and system design, compatible endpoints, certificates and configured security policies. Installing the module alone does not secure the network.
What details are needed to quote 1756-EN3TR and 1756-EN4TR accurately? Provide the requested catalog number, series, firmware, chassis and power supply, controller model, Studio 5000 release, topology, redundancy use, motion-axis count and required network-security functions.
Return and replacement support: Contact us within seven days after receipt if a problem appears. Keep the item in its original condition and state the reason for return. After the returned unit is inspected, a return or replacement can be arranged; shipping charges remain the buyer's responsibility.
