The FANUC R-2000iB/165F is a six-axis articulated industrial robot designed for demanding production applications. The R-2000iB family combines a compact mechanical design with a large working area and high payload capability. The 165F configuration is one of the floor-mounted models in the family.

Why does R-2000iB/165F have a 165 kg wrist rating but also a 550 kg J2 base rating?
These are different load locations within the robot structure. The 165 kg value applies at the wrist, while the 550 kg value applies at the J2 base. The two figures should not be treated as interchangeable when evaluating tooling, workpieces or a replacement robot.

Why should R-2000iB/165F be matched by reach as well as payload?
The 165F has a specified reach of 2655 mm. Other R-2000iB configurations can have substantially different reaches, such as the 125L, 175L and 185L versions. A robot with a different reach can change the working envelope of an existing cell even when its payload appears suitable.

Could R-2000iB/165F be relevant to a stopped spot-welding cell?
Yes. FANUC positions the R-2000iB family for spot welding as well as handling and assembling. For a replacement in an existing cell, however, the robot configuration, working envelope, payload and surrounding machine/system arrangement should be checked together.

What makes R-2000iB/165F different from the rack-mounted 165R?
The 165F is a floor-mounted configuration with a 2655 mm reach, while the 165R is a rack-mounted configuration with a 3095 mm reach. Therefore, the mounting arrangement and working envelope are both important when identifying a replacement.

What should be checked when ordering R-2000iB/165F for an existing system?
The most useful purchasing details are the exact part number, quantity, destination, required date and the machine or system where the robot will operate. For replacement work, the existing robot configuration, payload requirement, reach and installation arrangement should also be considered.
