ABB DI524 expands an AC500 or AC500-eCo control station with 32 dedicated 24 VDC digital inputs. The plug-in electronic module works with a TU515 screw terminal unit or TU516 spring terminal unit and can serve central or distributed S500 I/O arrangements.

| 01 | Channel density | Thirty-two digital input points concentrate machine-state sensing in one S500 module. Typical signals include pushbuttons, limit switches, proximity sensors, auxiliary contacts and status relays. |
| 02 | Input thresholds | The 24 VDC inputs follow Type 1 behavior. A voltage from +15 to +30 VDC is interpreted as logic 1; the intermediate band between +5 and +15 VDC is undefined and should be avoided. |
| 03 | Input timing | The input delay is typically 8 ms and can be configured from 0.1 to 32 ms. Filtering can suppress contact bounce or noise, but the selected value also affects response time. |
