A fuel-rate demand is received by the valve. Internal sensing monitors fuel pressure, fuel temperature and pressure differential, while an internal position sensor supports closed-loop actuator control. The controller then positions the valve to achieve the demanded physical fuel mass flow.

WHERE TECJET 110 FITS
Fuel control close to the engine
TecJet 110 is intended for industrial stationary applications and is designed to be mounted on or very close to the engine. Its dominant application is fuel control for gas-fueled reciprocating engines operated by an electronic engine control system.
 
Typical system relationship
Engine control calculates the desired gas flow → TecJet 110 receives the demand → internal pressure and temperature feedback supports mass-flow regulation → valve position is adjusted continuously.
When buyers usually look for TECJET 110
• Flow demand is not being reached

Why the fault can become costly
Incorrect fuel metering can affect engine starting, acceleration to idle, load response and combustion behavior. A valve that cannot achieve demanded flow may also point to upstream restriction, regulator problems, gas-property mismatch or incorrect valve sizing. In a stationary gas-engine installation, unresolved fuel-control faults can therefore extend engine downtime.
Diagnostic path: Check the upstream filters and restrictions, verify inlet pressure and differential pressure, confirm configured or received gas parameters, and review TecJet status through the Service Tool before concluding that the valve itself is the failed component.

Gas range
The valve supports specialty gases including landfill, digester and other biogases, and is also compatible with normal pipeline-quality natural gas. Gas specific gravity should be 0.4–2.0, with energy content of 1–9.5 kWh/nm³.

TecJet 110 supports CAN communication and SAE J1939 Higher Layer Protocol operation. J1939 messages use the CAN 2.0B 29-bit extended data-frame format.
Alternative demand inputs
Depending on configuration, mass-flow demand can be supplied through CAN, PWM or 4–20 mA analog input. CANopen and several application-specific demand modes are also configurable.

Q
Why is TECJET 110 sizing more important than simply matching the name?
 
The valve must cover the application's required minimum and maximum gas flow under the actual pressure differential. Woodward's sizing procedure applies an additional margin to the maximum flow requirement and reduces the minimum-flow requirement during the sizing check. This means a physically similar valve is not automatically an equivalent replacement.

GAS QUALITY
What makes TECJET 110 suitable for applications where gas quality can vary?
 
TECJET 110 uses fuel pressure, temperature and differential-pressure feedback as part of its fuel-flow control. Its intended gas range includes specialty gases such as landfill and digester gas as well as pipeline-quality natural gas. Application limits still matter: gas specific gravity is specified at 0.4–2.0 and energy content at 1–9.5 kWh/nm³.
Buyer check: Confirm the actual gas characteristics before assuming another valve configuration will behave identically.

Why can TECJET 110 show a flow-related fault even when the valve itself is not the root cause?
 
A flow-not-reached condition can be caused by conditions around the valve rather than by an internal mechanical failure. Low inlet pressure, excessive pressure drop, regulator problems, upstream restrictions, incorrect gas parameters or incorrect valve sizing can prevent the required flow from being achieved. Checking these conditions first can avoid unnecessary valve replacement.

FAMILY FIT
Can TECJET 110 be treated as interchangeable with other TecJet family sizes?
 
No. TecJet 180, TECJET 110, TecJet 85, TecJet 52 and TecJet 37 represent different flow-capacity sizes. The correct choice depends on the required minimum and maximum gas flow, pressure differential, gas characteristics and engine-control application. The family relationship is useful for comparison, but it should not be treated as proof of direct interchangeability.
