PSG OPERATING ARCHITECTURE
Mechanical sensing.
Hydraulic action. The PSG governor combines rotating flyweights, a pilot-valve system, hydraulic oil passages and a power cylinder. An underspeed condition causes the pilot valve to admit pressure to the power cylinder; an overspeed condition releases trapped oil from the power cylinder. |

For generator sets operating in parallel, speed droop allows the governor to participate in load division between engines. For suitable single-unit operation, zero-droop operation can provide isochronous speed control. Important: PSG configurations vary in return-spring arrangement, speed-setting method, droop arrangement, drive arrangement and other details. Confirm the complete governor configuration before replacement.
