Designed for distributed placement
VersaMax IP devices are intended for distributed automation close to field sensors and actuators. The IP65/IP67 family design allows I/O to be positioned nearer to the equipment rather than concentrating every signal inside a central cabinet. |

The IC676 family uses the same standalone PROFIBUS concept, but the channel mix changes the function of each module. The comparison below makes the selection logic visible instead of treating the family as interchangeable.

Can IC676PBI016-EA replace an 8-point IC676 input module without changing the application architecture?
The modules share the standalone PROFIBUS concept, but IC676PBI016-EA provides 16 inputs while IC676PBI008 provides 8. The receiving configuration and available field wiring should therefore be checked rather than assuming a direct point-for-point replacement.

Does IC676PBI016-EA fit a system that requires both digital inputs and outputs?
IC676PBI016-EA is an input-only module. If the same distributed node requires both sensing and actuator switching, the mixed-I/O IC676PBM442 has a different I/O composition and should be evaluated instead.
