GE Fanuc PACSystems RX3i:
A flexible control platform that drives innovation in automation systems
PACSystems RX3i was launched by GE Fanuc and became an important milestone in achieving application
portability. The system provides high-performance and flexible solutions for automation system users, greatly
promoting the advancement of automation technology. This article will describe the features and advantages
of PACSystems RX3i in points to help everyone better understand the importance of this platform.
1.High Performance and Platform Flexibility
Bill Estep, vice president of automation equipment for GE Fanuc Automation, said: "PACSystems RX3i provides
high performance across multiple platforms using the same control engine." This allows OEMs and end users to
select the hardware that best meets their needs.
2.Enhanced Productivity and Openness
This innovation enhances overall automation system performance and addresses key engineering and business issues,
such as higher productivity and communication openness.
3.Reduced Engineering Costs and Migration Concerns
The technology reduces engineering costs and significantly decreases concerns about short- and long-term migration
and platform longevity.
4.Simplified System Integration and Development Environment
Craig Resnick, ARC's research director, said PACs like RX3i and RX7i address integration issues, offering higher return
on assets, reduced lifecycle costs, and lower total cost of ownership. The system integrates multiple-discipline development
and functionality into a single platform, simplifying project development and implementation.
5.Emphasis on Open Standards and Software Integration
PACs will continue to shift the emphasis towards open communication standards and software integration, with less focus
on hardware.
Conclusion:
PACSystems RX3i is reshaping the future of automation systems with its flexibility, high performance, and open standards.
It is an ideal choice for manufacturers and OEMs looking to lower development costs and enhance overall system efficiency.

GE Fanuc IC697PWR710 Power Supply Module
The IC697PWR710 is a 90-70 Series 55 Watt Power Supply Module manufactured by GE Fanuc. The IC697PWR710 module
is designed to operate from a 120 VAC or 264 VAC nominal line. The input voltage range of 90 to 264 VAC, 47 to 63 Hz will
be accepted by the power supply. The power supply can also operate with a 125 VDC nominal line.
There is an electronic overvoltage protection circuit included the power supply. If the 5 volt bus exceeds 6.2 volts, the circuit will
lock the output. The power supply fuse will not open due to output external overvoltage, but the fuse can be opened if overvoltage
resulted from an internal fault in the power supply. The fuse may be replaced with a 1 amp 250 volt 5x20 mm fuse.
The IC200CPUE05 is a CPU designed by GE for the VersaMax series. The IC200CPUE05 has a built-in interface, which allows
it to serve as the system controller for a maximum of 64 modules with up to 2048 I/O points.
The IC200CPUE05 has two serial ports that are software configured for SNP and RTU slave, Serial I/O operation, and for Local
Station Manager operation (Port 1 only). When either port is being used for RTU, an automatic switch to SNP slave mode is required.
If the IC200CPUEO5 is in Stop mode and the CPU is configured for Serial I/O, a port will automatically return to SNP slave. Port 2
to can offer power to an external device if power requirement is 100 mA or less at 5VDC.
The GE Fanuc IC693CPU372 is a TCP/IP Ethernet Communications module. Like the CPU374 model, this module is designed to
work with the Series 90-30 system. The IC693CPU372 Plus enables TCP/IP communications with a range of devices and controllers
through its built-in enhanced Ethernet interface. This includes all Series 90, PACSystems, and VersaMax PLCs as well as host
computers running the Host Communications Toolkit or CIMPLICITY software. It can also communicate with computers running the
TCP/IP version of the programming software. Its Ethernet processor speed is 200 MHz. This Ethernet interface also has SRTP server
capability. This enables it to respond to requests from devices such as PLC programming software, a Host computer that is running an
SRTP application, or else another PLC acting as a client.
